Anita had to stifle a giggle at the stern, yet confused expression that appeared on the Demon Lord’s lips at the little creature’s retorts.  Ghirahim was not used to his derision’s to be responded with such nonchalance.

He leaned back in the chair, watching them continue their work as Anita relayed the story from memory for a second time.  Though he found the entire situation to be utterly perplexing, Anita was deriving quite a bit of enjoyment from the strangeness… he supposed (so long as these little ‘nimrods’ did not get in his way) he could deal with the situation for the time being.  If for her sake alone.

“Will this ‘fourth wall’ take much longer to fix?” Patience was a virtue, the Demon Lord knew, however it was one in which he was severely lacking.

“Shouldn’t take too much longer,” the Repairman replied, immediately. Very few with a presence like this man’s had much patience. “Just a few dabs of cement, and it should–”

“Actually,” Marie piped up, “You forgot about the nails and the drywall and the–”

“…What are you talking about?” Repairman asked, genuinely confused. His eyes darted to the man, and back to her.

“All I’m saying is, you don’t even work on any of the details of the work. You just–”

“Get the job done, yeah.” The Repairman’s eyes narrowed, as he slapped another shovel of concrete onto the fracture in the Fourth Wall. He coughed, turning back to the Demon Lord. “Sorry about that, erm, sir. It should be done in the next couple minutes…”

“Um, I prefer ‘nimrod’, or maybe ‘goof’,” Marie piped up, having overheard. ‘Cretin’ sounded like they were gonna face an unholy wrath of some kind. At least the two she offered were more petty insults.

The Repairman turned to look at her in disbelief and (silent) approval. That was such a weird thing to say, but it was a decent quip! Quickly, she hid the trowel behind her back, whistling innocuously. She knew how the inkblot felt about having an assistant, but darn it, she was going to assist!

“…To be fair,” the Repairman admitted, “I doubt I could read it either…”

He had a strong suspicion that the book was not written in English. Marie, however, was not yet savvy enough to think of that, and simply shrugged. She was sure she could read it!

“…Wait a minute!” the Repairman exclaimed, looking back at the demon. “Your wall? No, no, I’m only touching the Fourth Wall. My job to fix that.”

“Yeah,” Marie chimed in, “We’re–er, he’s not gonna hurt your wall any. No need to worry!”

“…Could you read it again?”

(( Greetings! 🙂 ))

“… Again?”  Anita glanced over the rim of the book she had been about to close.  She thought for a moment, a hint of a smile playing at the edge of her lips.  “Well… I suppose once more could not really hurt anything, could it?”  She smiled fully, before turning the pages of the book back to the start.  Anita was pleased they enjoyed the story as much as she did; and she was more than happy to read it over again.

[[Hi! Glad to finally interact!]]

Both the Repairman and Marie seemed to ask it simultaneously. The Repairman didn’t even notice that he stopped working on the Wall and started to recline on his tool cart. Marie, however, noticed, and saw an opportunity to show what she could do to help her older brother. Quietly, she grabbed a trowel and crept up to the half-fixed crack. That wonderful story would make for excellent background noise, and maybe she’d understand a few…weird…parts of it that didn’t make sense the first time…
