Beepsumu’s expression of exasperation turned to one of… Confusion? It was hard to tell with her limited facial features. “Well, you may have already guessed this, but the four of us are capable of traveling through dimensions, or at least our house is.”

Jingletooth interrupted. “Spackledorf! We’re giving our guest a demonstration!” She proclaimed as she dashed up the stairs.

Beepsumu’s eyes shifted around a bit. “Don’t worry about her, she isn’t actually going to do anything. Anyways, while we were out and about, I told Bonk not to talk to anyone, but she didn’t listen. Something about those people… They were kinda only half-human, if that makes any sense? I would’ve kept the others hidden, but as she was talking, I noticed something was up with the world. I saw it… Falling apart?” She began to look even more confused. “I don;’t know what Bonk said or did, but I knew we had to get out of there, and fast. A-and that’s what I saw, at least. I’m sorry if it isn’t much help, but…”

She was interrupted once again when the house began to shake, and a scream was heard from the corner of the room, where Bowyetta was standing. “Bowyetta is not being used to this happening!”

“What in the…” It then dawned on Beepsumu what had happened. “Oh no. She actually…”

The Repairman watched the dog leave, before turning back to Beepsumu.

He nodded. It made sense; there was a dimension for practically any set of characters. And he knew he wasn’t the only one to travel between worlds; it was actually a pretty common thing to do.

“Um… falling apart…? Are you sure—”

And then the house began shaking, causing the Repairman’s blobby body to wobble something awful. He turned to the fearful Bowyetta.

“What was–?”

He stopped. Apparently this wasn’t normal; why would anyone here know?

As Beepsumu realized, the Repairman turned to her.

“What?” he asked, frantically. “What’s happening?”

Bonkakira looked as thought she was thinking. “Bonkakira isn’t exactly sure herself. It happened when Bonkakira and her friends were exploring another dimension. Bonkakira remembers seeing some people who seemed lost, or maybe not even people at all… Bonkakira wanted to help them. Everything was fine one minute, then the next, Beepsumu was freaking out about something. She said that something had falled out, and then she made us all go back to the house. Upon further reflection, Bonkakira thinks she may have been drunk…”

Beepsumu looked exasperated. “You’ll have to excuse her, she isn’t going to be much help. See, Bonk’s kinda… Uh, how can I put it?”

The Repairman nodded, following just fine until “maybe not even people at all.”

At that point, he could still follow a little bit, but it was becoming painfully obvious they were thinking of two different things.

“Uh huh…

He looked back at Beepsumu in mild embarrassment.

“I see…” he said, evenly. “So, um, what do you remember happening? From what I’m hearing, we’re talking about two different dimensions…”

The red-haired girl looked at the Repairman. She seemed a bit confused at first, but spoke after a few moments. “Bonkakira is Bonkakira,” was her response. “Bonkakira would offer to shake your hand, but she isn’t exactly presentable right now.” Upon closer inspection,  she did seem a bit dirty, and her clothes were somewhat rumpled…

When Beepsumu reappeared from the kitchen, the dog spoke up again. “WOMAN!” She said, directing her eyes toward Beepsumu. “There is a dimensional tear in our house! I demand that it be repaired!”

Beepsumu was somewhat flustered by this. “W-well, Jingletooth, that’s actually not a tear, but our guest is going to repair it as soon as he can.”

Bonkakira raised a hand. “You mean he isn’t here to take Bonkakira away?”

Beepsumu’s face switched to an angry expression as she turned to Bonkakira. “He isn’t, and you should thank all the stars for that. I told you that messing around in other dimensions would have consequences, but…” Beepsumu stopped herself then. “Oh dear, I’m sorry, we shouldn’t be acting this way when we have a guest in our home. You wanted to talk to Bonkakira?”

“Huh…?”

The Repairman looked confused for a moment, but then Bonkakira continued speaking. Ah. One of those folks that don’t like saying “I.”

“Ah. That’s fine,” he shrugged. “I’m ink anyhow.”

How come every time this Jingletooth talked, the Repairman expected thunderstorms and dramatic music…?

“Yeah, I’m fixing it right now.”

The Repairman didn’t often see other people lecturing about inter-dimensional safety. It was… odd, to say the least. And he was starting to get the feeling they might be thinking of different dimensions.

“Oh, yes, um,” he started, “Bonkakira, could I ask, um, what happened, exactly…?”

It took Bowyetta a moment to realize that she was staring. “Oh!
Excuse Bowyetta, she was only wanting to watch.” She looked pensive for a
moment, then her usual smile returned. “Bowyetta is very much liking
fire, yes she is. It is reminding Bowyetta of her home. Bowyetta could
returning if she was wanting to, but…” Her smile disappeared again. “Are
you knowing what Smithy does to defectives like Bowyetta herself? He is
throwing us back into the furnace. And you know what that would be
meaning for Bowyetta? …It is nothing. He cannot be causing harm to
Bowyetta here. Perhaps Bowyetta is just needing of something to cheering
her up.”

At that moment, a loud banging noise could be heard
outside the house. Beepsumu stuck her cube-head out from the kitchen.
“What in the world…?”

A teal-colored dog and the red-haired girl
from before burst in through the door. “Toons Of The World, behold! I
have returned… WITH THE GIRL!”

“Oh.”

The Repairman didn’t have a concept of death. To him, unless it was Dip or something, a character could always bounce back when the story’s done. There was always a way…

But for someone to be recycled didn’t seem fair, nonetheless. At least she didn’t have to worry about that here.

“Well, if you want me to keep using the blo–”

And then there was a knock on the door. Who could that be? Yeah, this was an…interesting living situation, and yes, the Repairman came here too, but just how many visitors can this house get…?

And then the door opened, and the Repairman saw what looked like the same person from before (Bonkakira, maybe..?), along with…a dog from ToonTown Online/Rewritten/Offline/whatever-the-kids-call-it? Huh.

As the dog spoke, the Repairman couldn’t help but feel a bit of deja vu. He’d heard those inflections before…But that could wait. The inkblot had business at hand.

“Um, are you Bonkakira…?” he asked, looking at the redhead. “I heard about an issue here…”

Beepsumu looked a bit confused, but then she nodded. “Well, if you’re
certain… I don’t know what I’d do if something ended up breaking on our
account… And I still need to have a talk with Bonk when she gets here…
Anyway, we’ll get out of your way now. Come on, Bowyetta, let’s go make
lunch for everyone. I’ll even let you cut the bread.”

However,
Bowyetta seemed more curious about this process than Beepsumu did. She
sat down and kept her eyes on the Repairman, giving another one of her
smiles, while still making sure to keep her distance.

“Thank you,” the Repairman said, donning the mask.

Gosh, it was hard to see in this thing. All he could make out were the silhouettes of everything, with a deep blue behind it all. It didn’t help that the visor was pretty scratched.

Still, he could see the cracks in the Wall, and that’s what mattered.

There weren’t that many, and they weren’t that big. Still, the Repairman thought he should stick around a little after, just to make sure.

He moved over to the closest crack and turned on the blowtorch. Keeping the metal sheet on the crack, he began welding.

There. That was one down.

He turned off the torch and was about to move to the next break when he saw Bowyetta’s silhouette. Even in shadow, her smile was obvious.

“Uh, can I help you?” he asked, lifting his mask up with a confused expression.

Beepsumu cast her eyes downward. “W-well, um… We don’t know. I’m not really sure what effect we could have on a dimension we don’t belong in, but I imagine it wouldn’t be good… Anyways, the house. Please come with us.” She took Bowyetta’s hand and led the two indoors. “Gosh, we’re sorry to trouble you over something like this, but we can’t risk harming someone else’s dimension.”

The Repairman, whose business mainly revolved around going to universes he didn’t belong in, tried to reassure Beepsumu: “Relax, the dimensions’ll still be around when you leave. Besides, more often than not, things don’t really change for long.”

Then again, the Repairman did have an incredible lack of presence for decades…

“Eh, that’s all right, it happens all the time. I just wish there were more Toons who were as concerned as you. Now, let’s see…”

He pulled a cart out of seemingly nowhere. It had a large red toolbox on the top shelf, and a large blue one on the bottom. Digging into the red toolbox, he produced a blowtorch, a full face mask, and a sheet of metal. This job shouldn’t be too hard…

Bowyetta nodded. “Please be understanding, Bowyetta does not wishing to return. It was not very pleasant to living, and Bowyetta is quite afraid of Smithy…”

Beepsumu tilted her head. “She’s always talking about this Smithy guy, but she hasn’t told us who that is. Anyway, our situation is kinda complicated… But since you’re not going to kick us out, I’m going to be honest with you. As per our living agreement, we’re not really supposed to be interacting with dimensions that aren’t our own. It is true that Bonk never really followed the rules… But we really can’t risk causing a panic in other dimensions, or even breaking them altogether… I don’t know where she went, but when I see her again…”

The name ‘Smithy’ rang a very faint bell, but it wasn’t enough to help the Repairman understand. There were several characters named ‘Smithy,’ he’d wager.

Apparently, no one here but Bowyetta knew what that meant, anyway.

“Oh, really?” the Repairman asked. “This…’Bonk’… can break dimensions?”

That seemed like kind of a stretch Causing a panic, maybe, but the Repairman knew of very little that could really hurt a universe. Well, aside from the Wall…

Speaking of which, he still had to get in the house.

“Hmm…” he finally said. “In the meantime, can I see what the damage is…?”

His eyes pointed towards the house.

Bowyetta was the first to speak. “Hello! Bowyetta, that is me!” She smiled widely as she spoke, revealing how large her mouth really was…

“And my name is Beepsumu,” said the cyborg. She began extend her arm for a handshake, but stopped herself as she was unsure if the creature had hands or not. “We know, you’re here for Bonkakira, but we… Um…” She stopped, trying to think of an answer. “L-listen, I tried to warn her, but she never listens, thankfully I caught her before she did any real damage. If you’re going to kick anyone out it should be her and not us, besides Bowyetta here really can’t go back to her own dimension because…”

As she said that, Bowyetta’s smile disappeared. “Bowyetta not can going back to there. She was been kicked out.”

The Repairman simply replied “Hello…” to both of them.

Bonkakira? Was she the one breaking the Wall?

More importantly, these folks already knew about him? Huh… Apparently there was some confusion on their part. They thought he evicted folks? Wow.

He also noted how quick Beepsumu was to throw this Bonkakira under the bus. Hmm… He’d worry about it when it came to that, he supposed.

“Um, no, I don’t kick people out,” he reassured them, “I’m just here to fix it. I’ve never heard of people getting thrown out for something like that.”

He looked at Bowyetta with mild sympathy. Never having a world of his own, he couldn’t relate, but it didn’t look or sound good.

“…Sorry to hear that,” he managed to say. “That must’ve been awful.”

Before long, Bowyetta took a look out the window to see a strange dark shape just outside the house. She stared at it for a second trying to make it out, before calling for the cube-head. “Beepsumu! There is being something’s outside of our home!”

Beepsumu went to the window where Bowyetta stood. “Great, now there’s some kind of dimensional tear? I better go patch that up…”

Bowyetta stopped her. “Upon closely inspecting, this appears not to be a tear. It is appearing to be alive.”

Beepsumu looked even more irritated. “Oh no, it’s probably someone to take away Bonkakira… Come on, we have to cover for her until she gets back.” Beepsumu took Bowyetta’s hand and they went outside the house.

He continued approaching the house, hoping that by some miracle, he wouldn’t be seen. No such luck.

He saw a…candy cane…? …worm…? …garish Festivus pole…? through the window. It seemed to be staring at him. Not knowing what to do, he waved awkwardly. It seemed to shout for someone after a moment, and a cubed computer appeared.

The Repairman, granted, had seen some odd things, but a Technicolor plant and some kind of robot living in a house in the most literal use of “the middle of nowhere” ever conceived…did raise some questions.

As the two began to emerge, his mind was racing, in case things went south.

“Um, hello,” he said, as smoothly as he could manage, “Just checking up on a few things…”

He was mentally kicking himself. Really? That excuse never satisfies people!

Meanwhile, somewhere in the interdimensional void, there rested a small house, as strange as it may have been. Normally this house was quiet, but today…

“That is IT! I can’t stand for her actions anymore!” A girl with a strange, cube-shaped head stormed down the stairs, followed by a redheaded girl with sunglasses.

The redheaded girl grabbed the cube-head’s hand. “But Bonkakira only wanted to help those people. Lighten up a little, would you?”

The cube-head pulled her hand away. “Help them? You were HELPING them? Bonkakira, don’t you realize that we’re only allowed to stay here if we DON”T interfere with dimensions other than our own? Don’t you realize we’re not the only interdimensional travelers that exist?”

While this was going on, a tall, striped creature was watching from the other room. She somewhat resembled the others with her red hair, yet she clearly wasn’t human. At last, she stepped into the room to speak up, “Bowyetta is thinking you both should making up right now this moment!”

Bonkakira turned towards the bow creature. “No one asked you, you demented candy cane.”

“Don’t you talk to her like that!” The cube-head snapped as Bonkakira stormed out the door. “Hey, where do you think you’re going?!”

“Bonkakira is going somewhere she doesn’t have to look at you.”

Bowyetta followed Bonkakira out the door, only to be stopped by the cube-head. “Waiting just a second! Bowyetta is not thinking you should going out in there!”

“Don’t worry, Bowyetta,” The cube-head put her hand on Bowyetta’s “shoulder”, or rather what she had resembling one. “No matter how far she goes, she’ll find her way back here when she’s ready.”

“Bowyetta is hopeful that you are being correct about this.”

It didn’t take too long for the Repairman to go to the void. It was pure white, all around. The inkblot didn’t even cast a shadow.

He started to wonder why he wasted his time coming here when he heard the distant sound of a door opening. He turned to see not only a house, but a few of people emerging from it. One looked humanoid, the other two…not so much. Only one of them was leaving, apparently in a hurry. He could hear some hollering, but he couldn’t make it out.

Whatever it was, he felt like he should give a wide berth as he moved towards the house and fixed the Wall.
