Bowyetta was already preparing to hop through the void as Marie spoke. “Please do not being worried, Miss Marie!” she assured her. “No one is knowing of the Forest Maze better than Bowyetta! She will be there faster than you can be saying… Um, right. Bowyetta will being there soon.”
With that, Bowyetta put her phone away and hopped through the void back to her home world.
“Heh, maybe there’s just a turn HERE!” the Repairman pointed, finger shaking, at yet another identical path.
“Please hurry!” Marie said into her smartphone before hanging up. She gently tried to sit the Repairman down.
“Hey, hang on, Bowyetta’s coming, and…”
“Bowyetta’s coming here?! What if she gets lost too?! I gotta find a way through NOW before she gets…”
Marie pinched the space between her eyes as the Repairman kept raving and ranting, endlessly looping in the spot they were in.
The amalgamation dashed towards the fallen boxes, rapidly cramming stuff back in.
“…You know, we could just straighten…”
“I’ll get to it.”
Looking up, they saw…Susumu…?
No, those red eyes…must be some kind of imposter…
Susumu took a look around the box again, looking impressed. “Gosh…”
she gasped. “I never knew humans could fit this much stuff in those
little metal boxes!”
“Our kind.. Don’t live particularly close to humans,” Beep spoke up. “We don’t really get a lot of contact with-”
And that was when the strange blob started squeaking faster than the
girls could keep up with. Again. “Wha- Hey!” Susumu scolded. “I told you
I don’t know anything about these other people!” She hid behind her
arms a bit defensively. “Just… Calm down, okay? It’s gotta be a
coincidence, so don’t freak out, okay?”
Cat Slime stopped when he saw how much he was stressing Susumu out. He still wasn’t sure if this was a weird fluke or not, but he took a few deep breaths. Smiling weakly, he squeaked to excuse himself and dashed out the door.
It was muffled, but while Cat Slime’s squeaks couldn’t be heard, the Repairman’s voice could.
“Cat Slime! Get back in–!” he began to shout, but was cut off.
“Huh?…No…What…Oh…How did you…”
He sighed.
“Look, if anything, they’re alternate versions, okay? So just, calm down, keep them safe for now, and feel free to keep the scarf. Okay? …Okay, I’m going back to work, and you aren’t going to scare me like that again!”
A few moments later, a guilty-looking Cat Slime came back through the door, wrapped in an enormous red and orange scarf.
He squeaked a few apologies, then asked if anything else was needed.
“…Ahh~!” Vinny was startled as he was quite suddenly pulled out of
Bowyetta’s hair. His usual smile returned once he saw Mr. Sir. “Oh, Mr.
Sir~!” he greeted. “How is everything going~? Was Bowyetta able to-”
When
he saw Bowyetta, however, his eyes widened and he pulled away from Mr.
Sir. “Oh no… Is… Is she going to be okay…? What… Happened to
her…?”
Vinny wasted no time in diving back into Susumu’s
hair. When he returned, he was followed by several other arrows. “Right,
everyone, you know what to do~!!” he instructed. The arrows gathered
around Bowyetta, and after some trying, managed to lift her up,
carefully placing her onto the stretcher. As the rest of the arrows
returned to her hair, Vinny turned back to Mr. Sir. “Do you need any
more help, Mr. Sir~? Or, can we get her out of here now~?”
“I don’t know, she just fell over…” he started, worried, before watching Vinny fly back into Bowyetta’s hair.
The Repairman was quick to put the stretcher onto his tool cart, after moving his toolbox so it was next to the other one on the bottom shelf.
The toolbox squashed quite a bit. Not enough to endanger the toolboxes, but it would have been irreparable if it wasn’t a cartoon. As it was, the inkblot was sure it would spring right back up when Bowyetta moved off of it. At least, he hoped she would…
“No, I think we’re going back to the void now,” he sighed, gripping the handles. It was going to be a long trip, but he certainly could get there…
After some grunting and strained pushing, they were out of this bizarre place and on their way home.
“Hey, of course it’s okay!” Quartz answered her.  “We made enough for everyone, after all.”
Susumu
turned to Cat Slime, reaching into one of the boxes. “Alright, little
guy, you can have one now,” she said, producing a sandwich from one of
the boxes and handing it to him. “Sorry, it’s not anything too fancy,
just ham and cheese.”
Beep took a look around. “Well, is there
a table around here or something?” she asked. “Or maybe a blanket so we
can have a proper picnic? I think it’d be nice to sit down and get to
know each other while we eat…”
[[I mean, if you need a table…]]
No, that wouldn’t be needed. The Repairman had a table out already, pulling it from his absurdly spacious blue toolbox.
Cat Slime immediately hopped onto the picnic table, happily nibbling on the sandwich. Hey, he didn’t need anything fancy in his treats!
Carefully, Marie sat down on one end, next to her brother. She really wasn’t prepared for anything like this so quickly after she came to be.
“…Uh…Well, erm, what do you guys do for a living?” It wasn’t much, but it was a start. “I mean, other that cuteness competitions, of course”
She scratched under Medical’s chin with one hand and patted Cat Slime’s head with the other.
The Repairman couldn’t help but chuckle at that last remark. Gosh, already she was joking? Maybe if he could keep her from replacing him, she’d be a nice companion anyway…
As the movie started, A smile crossed Bowyetta’s face. “You are
having seen Tippy The Gem Stars before, Mr. Sir?” she asked. “Is being
one of Bowyetta’s most favorite shows! The main character is being of a
Magicat named Tippy! She is being a cat, but she is having of wings and
magical powers! And the villain is being…” She continued all through the
opening credits, explaining each character in detail.
A few
minutes into the movie, Bowyetta began humming along as a song started
up. Seeing how sad Mr. Sir and Cat Slime still looked, she quickly
hopped up off the couch and began dancing as Starla sang on screen. “Oh!
Mr. Sir! Please to be dancing with Bowyetta!”
“I…think you showed me before…” the inkblot said, vaguely recalling a stressful, yet engaging marathon the two sat through a long time ago.
He listened patiently to her explanations, thankful for the reminder.
“…Dance? I mean, uh…”
Too late. Cat Slime was dragging him onto the floor. The inkblot stood up, watching his pet as the slime spun and flipped before looking at his master encouragingly.
The inkblot sighed, and started bobbing to the rhythm. His expression did not change as he did so, but his breath sounded less ragged, and he wasn’t looking at the floor anymore, instead looking at his friends and the screen.
Quartz stared at Cat Slime in silence. She didn’t actually understand
Slime just yet, so she was unsure of what to say or do. Bonk was
snickering at Cat Slime’s performance, while Bowyetta stared with wide,
starry eyes.
Barrette, however, threw her doll into the air.
“Hooray!” she exclaimed, as the doll landed somewhere behind the group
with a thunk. She then turned around to hug her mother, as well as the
rest of the girls, before reaching out to hug Mr Sir.
…But after a minute, Barrette turned back to her mother. “Hungry!” She declared.
:Oh!
Barrette, you are wanting to be eating something?” Bowyetta asked. When
her daughter nodded in response, she looked back at Mr. Sir. “Will you
be staying for lunch with us, Mr. Sir?”
“Huh?”
The Repairman shook himself out of the story they were just in.
“O-oh…no, sorry, I think I should get back to work…”
Cat Slime sat himself back up, grinning at the reaction his performance got. The Repairman scooped him up, and both of them waved.
“It was nice meeting ya, Barrette! We’ll see you around!”
“A… Blob of ink?” This only seemed to confuse Susumu further. “A
slime? Usually when humans have these big metal boxes, there’s food in
them… But gosh, I never knew you could fit a whole house in here!”
“But… You guys aren’t monsters, right?” Quartz asked. “That blob of ink… He doesn’t eat Denpa-Men, does he?”
“Oh,
that’s right!” Susumu excalimed. “Uh… As you might have guessed, I’m
Susumu, and that girl with the white hair is Quartz. The one with the
shades is Bonk, and the square-headed girl is Beep. Oh, the pink girl
with glasses is Bowyetta. Pink Denpas are extra fragile, so be careful
with her especially, okay?”
Cat Slime shook his head, explaining that this was just a “box of stuff”. He didn’t seem to think there was anything unusual about his house being in a box, as he quirked an eyebrow at that remark.
He was quick to shake his head. No, neither of them ate Denpas.
However, when he heard the other Denpas’ names, it had to be more than a coincidence. Frantically, he was squeaking questions and exclamations all over again, shaking, wondering if he could do something to help his shrunken amnesiac family.
Medical hopped down, giving an excited squeak, and gave Cat Slime a
playful nudge. She then began proudly squeaking about how they were
brother and sister, and how Bowyetta had created them both, along with
several other slimes. Of course, she didn’t forget to mention Kitterah
and her pet Aggie.
“Mr. Sir?” Bowyetta asked, a concerned look
on her face. “You are being okay? You are having left much suddenly…
Everything is alright, isn’t it?”
“Well, now that we’re all back
together, why do we show you three what all we brought?” Susumu asked,
picking up one of the boxes. “We’ve got sandwiches, a cake, drinks,
Bowyetta even made coleslaw! Hey, it’s a big day, ya know? I know, your
first meeting with the girls wasn’t all that glamorous, but maybe we can
make up for that, eh?”
Unfortunately for Medical, Marie did not understand Slime. She stood there, bemused, watching the slime squeak away.
The Repairman smiled, shrugging with one hand.
“Eh, I’ll…I’ll be fine,” he said. Hopefully he wouldn’t be replaced anytime soon…
His worries were put aside when Susumu reminded them all it was a lunch gathering.
“Hey, thanks! Heh, you didn’t have to do all this…”
Cat Slime had fewer reservations than his owner, and dashed over to the box enthusiastically hopping up and down. Marie, however, stood still, stunned that this was all happening on her first day.
“…I mean, are you sure it’s okay?” she asked.
