Shinko gasped, running over to hug Marie. “Marie! It’s been a long time!
Oh! Sorry…” She quickly let go with a sheepish smile, keeping her hands
behind her back. “You said you got lost? Where are you trying to get
to?”

Marie gave an awkward pat as she was hugged, already feeling warmer from the heat inside the house.

“No, it’s fine,” she smiled, weakly. “We were on our way to Duckburg. You know where that is?”

She leaned in a little as she asked that, eyes widened slightly.

Susumu looked down at the source of the voice. “Oh, hey, Mr. Sir!”
she greeted her old friend. “Gosh, how long as it been? Seeing you
really takes me back…”

She paused for a minute, before looking back to the blob. “Erm,
right. Anyway, you said you’re looking for a bow for your sister, huh?”
she asked. “Luckily, as a Pop Star, I am an expert of bows.”

Susumu then walked over to a small table near the door, picking up a
large catalogue and bringing it back. “What sort of thing does she like
in bows?” she asked. “A Strawberry Bow? Or maybe an Aurora Bow?”

The Repairman gulped as he saw the huge catalogue. He knew every niche had a lot to it, but this was getting pretty hefty.

“Um…” he started, pulling out a photograph of Marie, with her simple green bow. He had hoped this would help reference-wise. As it was, he was flipping uncertainly through the pages, glancing back and forth between the catalogue and the picture.

“…Well, I’ve heard her talk about bows with flat colors or simple patterns…? I think…?”

He sighed as he placed sticky notes next to everything he saw that looked promising. After a minute or two, he had made it through a mere few pages.

He turned to Susumu, showing her what he had noted. So far, he had the Wooly Bow, the Kimono Bow, the Aurora Bow, and the Debutante bow.

“…I don’t know, what do you think? Should I choose a different bow shape? Do these designs work?”

“Hey, um, would anyone here happen to know about bows? Marie’s birthday is coming up, and, uh, I was thinking she might like having more than one outfit…”

monokuro-adventures:

Konade was sitting at the table in the meantime, and she rocked back in her seat. “Well,” she began. “If you need someone who knows about bows, we DO have a Pop Star on our team-”

At that moment, Susumu rushed down the stairs. “Did someone say bows?!”

“Oh, right! Susumu!”

He quickly moved to meet her, mentally kicking himself for forgetting she had a bow.

“Yeah, um, I need a bit of help. Marie’s birthday is coming up, and I think she might appreciate a few extra ribbons. I don’t know enough about this kind of thing to find a good one, though…could you help me out?”

“Hey you two.” She tried to wave as they moved over an managed… well she wasn’t sure what.

“Well,
I’ll put it this way, it certainly isn’t one of MY jokes if you catch
my drift.” She dead panned as Rep and Marie helped her “stand up”
straight. “Ugh. I just don’t feel right. no bones, no ridged movements…
I’m not even sure how I’m talking… OR what I’m flexing…” She was
managing to stay upright, but it was obviously very stiff and forced.

Very
slowly she attempted to relax, trying to figure out how to stay
upright. “Well, that’s somewhat better?” The right side of her sagged a
bit before she could pick it back up. “Unless I have to move or talk it
seems.”

Aggie sat next to Cat Slime now that Kit was in good hands, but he still kept an eye on her.

Cat Slime immediately pulled Aggie closer, patting him reassuringly. He started squeaking gently, trying to ask what happened without stressing his brother-of-sorts any more than he was already.

“…I see,” the Repairman said, as calmly as he can manage. Seeing her barely contain herself was quite the uncomfortable experience. This only got worse as Kit sagged a bit.

Meanwhile, Marie went over and picked up the gob of grey paint that Kitterah flung. She turned and gently put it into Kit’s side, patting reassuringly.

“…Yeah, it is weird, come to think of it…How do we–MMPH?!”

The Repairman had been quick to cover her “mouth”, much to her annoyance. He didn’t need her questioning herself to death, not now.

“…Erm, what she means is, it’s best not to question it…”

Marie pulled his hand off of where her mouth would be like it was nothing.

In any case,” she said, glaring at her brother before turning back to Kit, “surely we can help you get used to this…OH! Hang on a sec!”

And with that, she dashed over to the tool cart and began digging through the blue toolbox, while the Repairman stayed in case Kit needed further steadying.

Belial wordlessly began taking a few steps before she came across a thought.

“Actually…it will be quicker if I fly you there.”

Without waiting to hear if Marie had any concerns about heights, she
quickly turn to scoop up the blob in her arms, her wings spreading wide
as she took off to get past the treetops. She quickly took sight of the
town, flying as fast as she could mostly so that she could stop carrying
Marie around.

As soon as found Shinko’s home, she landed right on the doorstep, putting Marie down to knock.

Within a few moments, the door opened to reveal Falcon, who
immediately tensed the dark tendrils of his ‘hair’ and spread the
fringes of his sleeve in a defense stance.

“Hmph… stop that nonsense. I seek the little girl, Shinko,” Belial scoffed.

The dark eye holes of Falcon’s mask, as well as the white eyes of his
demonic form, narrowed at her. “She is sleeping. It is late.”

“Unlikely, for a brat like her. One of her friends got lost in the
Outskirts. Something about getting lost on the way to some other place
I’ve never heard of,” Belial spoke irritably. “If you know what’s good
for you, you’ll step aside and let us see her. You know I’m not above
taking you down.”

Before Falcon could react, he heard the sound of a door from the
hallway creaking open. He glanced back with one of his white eyes to see
that Shinko had peeked to look outside.

“…um…. I heard my name?” Shinko asked. From where she stood, she could only see Falcon and Belial at the front door.

“..Wait whAUGH!”

Marie suddenly found herself aloft, hyperventilating and flailing as she was carried at high velocity…and more importantly, quite a ways away from the ground.

Her hat was shocked back into a green bow by the time they landed, and her blobby form was pale as she shivered from both the cold and the experience.

She looked up, starting to really regret this. Oh, if she hadn’t tripped (how on earth can a blob trip anyway?), she wouldn’t have been in this mess, she wouldn’t have caused this much arguing…What an assistant she was turning out to be…

Her self-pitying train of thought was interrupted as she heard Shinko’s voice from inside the house. Well, at the very least, she could speak up.

“Um, s-sorry about this, but, um… she was helping me out…”

She moved her lower half in a manner similar to how someone would shuffle their feet, as she rubbed her hands in the cold. She was having trouble making eye contact.

“…I k-kinda got lost in the woods,” she partially admitted to her own failure. “She agreed to take me to Sh-Shinko, and, w-well….”

Susumu was the first to duck into the strange room. “Susumu, wait!”
Beep tried to stop her. Bowyetta bounced in excitedly, Quartz was
looking around, and Bonk stepped in without much worry at all.

“Wow, this all really belongs to you?” Susumu asked. “I never thought you could fit so much stuff in here!”

“What kind of music you got in here?” Bonk asked. “Anything we can dance to?”

Susumu nodded. “You know, I’m pretty good at dancing,” she said, and
began stumbling around awkwardly in an attempt to dance. The other girls
simply stared, deciding it was best not to say anything. “…What?”

Cat Slime stretched out his tiny nubs, proudly showing off the room. He gestured towards the disco ball, the shelf full of regular-sized CDs (meaning they were well over two-thirds of Cat Slime’s height), and the mini-bar of fruit smoothies over at the side.

“Mi mi mi mi mi!” he said, gesturing to the CDs. There was a certain corner in the shelf for softer music, with a slower tempo. Then Denpa-Susumu started shuffling.

Cat Slime blinked. The music hadn’t even started yet, and already she was trying to move like it just got going.

“…Mi?”
