Susumu took a look around the box again, looking impressed. “Gosh…”
she gasped. “I never knew humans could fit this much stuff in those
little metal boxes!”“Our kind.. Don’t live particularly close to humans,” Beep spoke up. “We don’t really get a lot of contact with-”
And that was when the strange blob started squeaking faster than the
girls could keep up with. Again. “Wha- Hey!” Susumu scolded. “I told you
I don’t know anything about these other people!” She hid behind her
arms a bit defensively. “Just… Calm down, okay? It’s gotta be a
coincidence, so don’t freak out, okay?”
Cat Slime stopped when he saw how much he was stressing Susumu out. He still wasn’t sure if this was a weird fluke or not, but he took a few deep breaths. Smiling weakly, he squeaked to excuse himself and dashed out the door.
It was muffled, but while Cat Slime’s squeaks couldn’t be heard, the Repairman’s voice could.
“Cat Slime! Get back in–!” he began to shout, but was cut off.
“Huh?…No…What…Oh…How did you…”
He sighed.
“Look, if anything, they’re alternate versions, okay? So just, calm down, keep them safe for now, and feel free to keep the scarf. Okay? …Okay, I’m going back to work, and you aren’t going to scare me like that again!”
A few moments later, a guilty-looking Cat Slime came back through the door, wrapped in an enormous red and orange scarf.
He squeaked a few apologies, then asked if anything else was needed.
