I understand people are afraid. I understand people are mad. I understand people feel miserable and helpless right now. But there’s something that’s more evil and terrifying than President Trump. Something far more dangerous than a selfish and ignorant leader.
And that is despair.
I see a lot of people threatening to hurt or kill themselves on my dashboard. As someone who has survived multiple suicide attempts, I am legitimately concerned for the mental and emotional well being of my followers and mutuals. This level of hopelessness is not one I believe anyone should go through. At the same time, I’m a woman who knows my limits. I don’t have the emotional strength to help everyone on my own.
What I know for sure is that you shouldn’t kill yourselves for something so pointless. You can’t let fear control you because it’s exactly what people like Trump and his supporters want. You still have a chance to make a difference, but you have to keep living and fight for the right thing. If you die now, then everything you believed in would disappear in vain.
I can’t say my words will reach everyone, and I understand that. But if people want some comfort, I’m willing to try and break down some barriers tonight. I’m heavily considering hosting a livestream where people who are feeling under the weather can reach out to each other and talk while watching a show. At the very least there would be comfort in a bit of humor and community. Plus, with all the media coverage, I think we need a break.
Here’s some ideas I’m considering in terms of entertainment. If anyone wants to add to the list, feel free to do so.
1.) Reruns of the 80s Legend of Zelda cartoon
2.) A Christmas Tree (a horrifically animated Christmas special my friends and I laugh at)
3.) The Legend of Niel
4.) Bobobo-Bo-Bobobo
5.) The Princess Bride
I’ll host this if enough people are interested in taking a break. I’ll have to establish a lot of rules since this is touchy and finish homework early, but please comment if you want to have a livestream break or not.
Please don’t die. I’ve been there and I’ve seen what happens when a family loses a loved one. Don’t let fear ruin you like this.
